We know that being a spectator comes with a lot of downtime, so in an effort to make things maybe a little bit more fun or interesting, you can play Bingo with some of the other members of the Sapphire "fan club".

Hey there coaches and parents!

Attached you'll find the practice meet results. Additionally, the girls will get their score cards back this week!

Highlighted scores are "contributing scores". When team scores are calculated for team results, the three highest scores from each event are added together and totaled to create the team score. 

I went ahead and entered in placements, but this isn't necessarily the fairest way to determine how well your child is doing. Our age ranges at the practice meet were wide, and will likely be more narrow in competitions, and your children will more often than not be competing against children predominantly in an age group that is close to their ages. I did split the larger Silver group into two age categories - Junior and Senior - to reflect a fairer size and age margin. Most of the time age groups are between 10-20 athletes.

As I stated in the Everything You Need To Know About Competitions meeting, all of our "judges" were making our best estimations for scores, but none of us are certified judges. Though the practice meet gives us a general idea of how those routines would score or place at a meet, none of us are formally trained in the subject, and we may have been more generous or more picky than a judge may be in the future.

Great news! The new competition leotards, jackets and leggings are here and they are gorgeous! Your child's coach will be handing these out at the end of practices this week, so they can be taken straight to the car and not get mixed up in the locker room. Please store these in a safe place, preferably hanging up and carefully follow the washing instructions so they can stay in the best condition possible all season long. Remember these items are not to be used for recreational purposes, please only allow your athlete to wear for pictures and competitions.

It will be a fun afternoon full of games and activities that will promote teamwork and help the girls get to know more of their teammates before the meet season! We are so excited to be offering a practice meet on Sunday, December 3rd for our Bronze, Silver, Gold and Compulsory level athletes!  Although this event is not required, it will be a fabulous opportunity for your gymnast to show her routines and build confidence in her performance before the season begins. This event will be held here at Sapphire and will be coached and "judged" by our amazing coaching staff. To participate in this event, you MUST confirm if your daughter will be attending by Friday, October 27th.  There is a $10 registration fee for this event that will be charged to your account on Monday, October 30th.

If you could please send me the size of leotard you want for your athlete attending the competition by Friday, 10/6, that would be great!  This is the same brand that we ordered for our competition leotards this year, so if you want me to go off of the size they got in that, just let me know and I can do that.

Hey Team Families,
Team pictures are scheduled for Saturday, November 11th between 8:00 AM - 12:45 PM. There is no cost to participate and even if you do not plan on ordering photos of your athlete, we recommend attendance so that your athlete can be in the team photos that are framed in the hallway at the gym! This event will be taking place here at the gym. You do need to sign up for a time slot so we can stay on schedule, but if all goes according to schedule you should only be here for 15 minutes or so.  
If the options available do not work for you, please contact ted@sandeen.photography ASAP to schedule a makeup.
Please arrive at your scheduled time with your athlete wearing her competition leotard (yes, they will be here by then) and competition ready hair (hair pulled all the way back and out of the face - bun's for levels 3-5).

We are starting to work on putting together the practice schedule for winter break! If you know that you have travel plans in the later part of December and your gymnast will not be here, could you please let us know what dates she will be absent so we can try to plan a little more accurately?

It is choreography season and we are offering floor choreography clinics to assist with the learning process for floor routines. These clinics are not required, but will provide extra instruction and practice time to help the athletes become more familiar with the new floor routines and hopefully allow for more class time to be used on polishing the skills and routines. Bronze athletes will be in the 10:00-11:00 clinic, Silver athletes are in the 11:00-12:00 clinic, and Gold athletes are in the 12:00-1:00 clinic. Please make sure to register for the correct time slot for your athlete. The clinics cost $5 paid by cash to Alisha or Mandi by Friday, 9/15.

Hey Xcel Families!

We are offering some Sapphire slides this year for the girls to wear at meets! These are not mandatory for the Xcel team, but are a fun option if you are interested. I have attached a photo of what they will look like so you can see if it is something you are interested in. I have sizers for these in my office and will need to get everyone who is wanting them sized by Friday, 9/1. The cost for the slides will be $40 paid by cash or check to the gym. Hey there wonderful team families!

Attached you'll find the Meet Sign Up Sheet. This is due back on Monday, August 7th. You may submit it through email or by turning it in at the front desk!

Alisha and I will be hosting a "Meet Sign Up" meeting on Monday, August 7th from 5:15-6:15 PM. The gym is a little chaotic during this time of day, so please pack a bag chair and meet us in the back parking lot, and we'll enjoy the outdoors while we discuss any questions you may have about the sign up sheet. If you don't have any questions, please feel free to skip the meeting!

Additionally, for you experienced parents, it's important to note that starting this season, the Xcel Booster Club will be responsible for collecting fees and managing these funds. I'll be sending out information regarding the Booster Club very soon so that we can get the ball rolling on that. There are a lot of young ladies on the Xcel team, so this part of team management can be challenging for only one person to oversee. I'm confident that many of you parents are going to step up, help share the load, and make us even more formidable by joining the Booster Club and helping out whenever you can!

Hey Team Families!

We are so excited to officially announce that we are getting all new uniforms this year! Fittings will be held between 7/27-8/9. 

Please use this link to sign your athlete up for a time to come in and get sized. It is a quick 15 minute appointment, so you can get in and out efficiently, but it also means you cannot be late to your scheduled time. If you are unable to attend one of the scheduled fitting times and require your own private fitting, there will be an additional $25 fee. ALL fittings must take place before August 10th. Please make sure your athlete is wearing appropriate undergarments for this appointment so everything can stay hygienic.

Since both teams are getting new uniforms I do need all athletes to sign up for a time slot. We also need all athletes to attend their fittings with a parent present to approve of the sizes and pay for the uniform that day. Make sure to bring a checkbook or cash payment for this appointment. Prices are listed below:

Jacket - $55

Leggings - $30

Backpack - $65 - First year athletes MUST purchase - returning athletes can choose whether they keep their old one or get a new glittery version of the same backpack.

Xcel Leotard - $105

Xcel Total due at this appointment - $255 w/ backpack or $190 if no new backpack

It is time to purchase or renew your athlete's USAG membership for the season! We need all of these up to date by August 1st, however if you are attending the Puerto Rico meet we need these up to date ASAP to get registered!
